CHANGE IN THE DUE DATE OF CAA MEMBERSHIP DUES
A few years ago the CAA Board of Directors decided to make membership dues payable each year in the month a member joined the association. In part, the logical thinking behind this was that members would not be hit with yearly dues soon after Christmas. The idea behind this plan was good, but in reality it has made it more difficult to track membership from year to year. As a consequence it has made it harder to insure that all paid members are included in the yearly directory. It also appears that it is easier for many members to remember to pay their dues at the time of registering for the annual convention in January.
At the November 16, 2009, CAA Board of Directors meeting it was decided to again make the membership dues payable at the time of the convention in January. Of course, in this first transition year there must be a mechanism to accommodate those members whose dues were payable later in 2009. Therefore, the dues will be prorated to January 1, 2010. As an example, if dues were paid in June there would be six months left so that as of January 1st the member would owe only half of the $75.00 annual dues.
For those members who need some time to plan for this change there will be a grace period before a membership is considered delinquent. The CAA Board of Directors always tries to keep in mind the best interest of the association as well as the individual members. All members should feel welcome to ask questions and make suggestions to help make our organization better able to serve the membership.
